East Walker 2011

The EW 2011

Memorial Day fishing trip! The Caddis will be out, it'll be warm, wet wading, sun! Snow still on the peaks, but its memorial day!

Its gonna be gorgeous

Goddammit. The second time I stray from steelheading to go on a multi-day trip for trout in spring/summer and I get this bullshit!

Last chance to turn back...

Notice the lateral motion of the snow flakes

Of course I brought my tent. Its memorial day right...camping! It snowed all night, and in the morning when the sun came out all the snow melted, and dripped right in my tent. I shoulda slept in my waders.

Meanwhile Cody's in the back of his bullshit-douchebag-tool-stupidass-warm hard shell truck.

Worth It

Sorry no really fishing pictures in this one...don't know why none were taken. But I assure we caught our (massive) share for 25"ers.

Trinity River 2010

Trinity River Nov. 2010

Again paired up with Cody we made the fall pilgrimage to the river in California people go to catch fish. The T, The Trin, The i just made a forum board post about this steelhead trip but i'm not gonna tell you the name of the river even though the entire state of California already fishes that river anyway, or the river we fondly know as the Trinity.

Dirty ass nympher

Don't that smile just say it all folks

Now don't let the nice pictures fool you. It was damn cold. We woke up our second morning of fishing and walked outside the motel room to see both pairs of wading boots frozen solid. We spent a good 20 minutes pouring hot water over our boots...time we could have spent in 45 degree water waving around sticks. Damn cold.

Dirty ass nympher #2

Wild Oncorhynchus Mykiss

In order to redeem ourselves a little bit and take home a little bit of pride, we both spent some time swinging also. In the end we both hooked and lost fish on the swing, a feeling we all know and hate.

On the last day it cleared up a little bit, and while it seemed sunny, a river rock the size of a 8/9 fly reel (only a fly fisherman would ever use that analogy) froze to the bottom of my boot. Thats what makes it worth it...right?

Klamath 2010

June 2012 on the Klamath with Mr. Melchior

Pocket Water

What a Hero

Don't even recognize this kid anymore with his baby-face in this pic
Don't hate on the vest!

Its been a while...

Well, its been a while.

With a few buddies who've started blogs I feel pressured to keep up. Reading through posts from 3-4 years ago reminds me of how much I've grown up in the past few years, but I'm sure there's still a long way to go.

I'll catch you up on the past couple years.

Summer Steelhead Flies

With summer steelhead season upon us in Nor-Cal I figured I post a couple pictures of the flies that will be doing a lot of the work this fall.
